The Clinical Dietitian assesses nutritional needs, develops and implements nutritional care plans, and evaluates and reports results appropriately. The role participates in ongoing education programs for hospital staff and the community, contributes as an integral part of the nutrition care team in assigned and covered areas, and coordinates activities with the needs of the department’s management team. The dietitian shares rotating weekly on-call responsibilities during non-scheduled working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A Clinical Dietitian I begins to build a foundation in progressive problem solving and applies scientific and theoretical knowledge to patient care, consistently demonstrating competence in skills, problem solving, and priority setting. The position is part-time at Dayton Children's Main Campus in the Clinical Dietitians department, with 4 hours listed. New graduates may be hired with the expectation of passing the RDN exam within six months of hire. Failure to pass within that period may result in termination or movement to an alternate department role, if available, until the exam is passed. Experienced candidates may be eligible for hire as a Clinical Dietitian II or III.
