About The Position

This role involves assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition care for patients using the Nutrition Care Process. The Clinical Dietitian I will complete competency in physical assessments, provide care independently, and offer nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers. Responsibilities include participating in medical rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences. The position requires completing nutrition transplant orientation and providing care according to CMS guidelines for patients in all three phases of transplant. On-call duties, weekend, and holiday coverage are also part of the role. The dietitian will assess, implement, manage, or adjust diet prescriptions for oral/enteral/parenteral nutrition, making appropriate use of educational materials and serving as a resource to FNS staff for nutrition products and supplies. Participation in FNS/hospital-wide committees may be required. Effective time management, problem identification, data collection, and corrective action for performance improvement projects are essential. The role includes completing preceptor training and precepting interns under the supervision of a mentor dietitian, attending internship seminars/case studies, and serving as a nutrition resource to physicians and allied health members. Development of written materials, communication of nutrition information in patient care rounds, and participation in hospital-related events and professional organizations are also included. Annual competencies must be completed on time. The dietitian is expected to seek guidance from peers and medical personnel to expand professional knowledge in Medical Nutrition Therapy, maintain a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) portfolio, and complete at least 15 nutrition-related CEUs annually, including at least 2 approved transplant-related continuing education units. Presentations to local organizations may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • 0 to 1 year (less than 2080 hours) of experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care inpatient setting, long term care facility, long term acute care facility, rehabilitation facility, and/or outpatient nutrition program.
  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian with CDR.
  • Licensed in the state of Georgia as a licensed dietitian.
  • If dietitian does not currently possess RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 2 months of hire.
