About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian provides specialized nutrition care to oncology and hematology patients across the continuum of care. This role applies evidence-based nutrition guidelines to support treatment tolerance, optimize nutritional status, enhance quality of life, and support survivorship and recovery. The clinician collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team to ensure safe, effective, quality person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or related field from an ACEND accredited institution
  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Dietician in the state of Georgia.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) preferred, or willingness to obtain within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides all care in accordance with state and federal law as well as PCI policies, standards of practice, and prescribed workflows.
  • Conducts individualized nutritional assessments for oncology and hematology patients at various stages of care (diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship).
  • Develops evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to cancer type, treatment modality (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, transplant), and patient comorbidities.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients and families on symptom management (e.g., weight loss, appetite changes, mucositis, GI disturbances, anemia, fatigue, immunosuppression).
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, advocating for the nutritional factors affecting medical care. Utilizes the team as resources in planning patient care.
  • Provides patients and care partners with ongoing education, support, and referral services.
  • Monitors patient progress and adjusts nutrition interventions based on treatment responses and evolving clinical needs.
  • Leads group education sessions, workshops, or support groups as appropriate.
  • Serves as an internal resource for oncology-specific nutrition guidelines, best practices, and staff training.
  • Utilizing available software, documents all patient communication and interventions in real time.
  • Participates in quality and performance reviews. In collaboration with PCI leadership, plans and implements improvement activities.
  • Serves as a liaison to third party outpatient service departments and organizations to coordinate specified care.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, care partners, members of the healthcare team, and third-party agents or organizations.
  • Serves as a resource to colleagues and as a preceptor to new employees as directed by PCI leadership.
  • Maintains a safe, clean work environment.
  • Manages time effectively and delegates responsibility as appropriate.
  • Utilizes resources in a responsible manner with a focus on cost containment.
  • Accepts personal responsibility for professional development and growth. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Respects and maintains confidential information. Demonstrates proficiency in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) concepts.
  • Attends prescribed classes and trainings as required by the organization and the clinical department.
  • Performs related work as directed by the organization’s management team.
