About The Position

Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story. We have obtained FDA approval and officially begun the commercial launch of the Globe® Pulsed Field System. This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life-changing technology to patients! As a member of the Clinical Development Engineering team, you will get hands-on experience in the development of an innovative and complex medical device. The work within our team is varied, and collaboration with other elements of the business is a key part of what we do. With your analytical skills and knowledge of mechanical systems, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to Kardium’s goals. Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Requirements

  • An interest in healthcare and medical device development
  • Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks preferred
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design and iterative prototyping
  • Demonstrated communication skills and success working in a team setting
  • Experience with MATLAB and investigational coding
  • Experience with machine shop equipment and prototyping tools like 3D printers and laser cutters
  • An understanding of mechanical concepts and their practical application
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to execute a variety of tasks with an appropriate level of independence

Responsibilities

  • Performing benchtop investigations as part of evaluations of product performance, field troubleshooting, and design improvements.
  • Developing testing jigs and protocols to support new feature investigations.
  • Designing and manufacturing tools used in simulated procedures with clinical staff and physicians.
  • Performing clinical engineering investigations and summarizing results and recommendations.
  • Preparing technical documentation to support the activities outlined above and capture the knowledge you’ve gained.
