About The Position

At Johnson & Johnson, we are revolutionizing healthcare by leveraging technology, data, and the power of teamwork to overcome the world's most significant healthcare challenges. We are looking for passionate and driven Clinical Data Science (CDS) interns to join our J&J MedTech - Electrophysiology (EP) team for a paid summer internship program in Irvine, California. The Intern term is from May/June to August/September, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Biostatistics or Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Candidates must be a self-motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, and programming skills is required.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages R, SAS, or Python is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with statisticians and data engineers to learn about statistical and data science applications specific to clinical or nonclinical settings in medical devices.
  • Support projects in areas that range from clinical studies, post marketing studies, Real World Evidence registry studies.
  • Participate in working groups such as the Statistical Methodology/Consulting Working Group, Machine Learning Working Group, RWE/Publication Support Team, and R, Python, SAS User Groups.
  • Be involved in various activities, including data preparation, graphical exploration of data, statistical model building and analysis, report writing, and writing of computer programs or software applications associated with the participated projects.
  • Design experiments, conduct simulations to evaluate optimal designs, and participate in methodological development.
