About The Position

As a Clinical Counsellor (Family Preservation) at OneSky, you will play a key role in providing parenting capacity assessments and therapeutic support to families facing significant challenges, including social, psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues. You will assess clients' needs and develop personalized treatment plans that empower individuals to lead fulfilling, healthy lives. This position involves providing intensive short term support including parenting capacity assessments, crisis response, clinical intervention, therapeutic support and treatment, as well as reunification and reintegration planning for families.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience in working with complex family settings involving domestic violence, substance use, significant mental health concerns, and/or other related experience.
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Completion of required OneSky training for all employees.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice principles.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of participants’ socio-cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in computer and internet use.
  • Familiarity with harm reduction practices.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Adherence to OneSky’s policies and procedures, confidentiality agreement, and Code of Ethics.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize evidence-based tools to assess clients' social, emotional, psychological, and behavioral concerns in collaboration with caregivers, MCFD, and other service providers.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic plans to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Provide short-term (30 to 60 days), intensive, outcome-focused individual and family counseling using appropriate therapeutic techniques tailored to client needs.
  • Offer follow-up support to monitor progress and well-being after therapy.
  • Identify necessary resources and connect clients with appropriate community services.
  • Collaborate with social workers, health professionals, probation officers, and other service providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, document client progress, and prepare reports as required.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with OneSky’s standards.
  • Participate in training sessions, seminars, and public education forums relevant to your program areas.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in clinical counseling.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the program and organization.
