About The Position

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding clinical or counseling psychologist for a position in our Multispecialty Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic (MSOPC). The position is primarily clinical. We are looking for a team-orientated psychologist who has an interest in honing their skills as a psychotherapist and developing a practice catered to specialty populations and diagnoses. You will join a diverse multidisciplinary therapy team that consists of psychologists, counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists who work collaboratively with psychiatrists and advanced practice providers (APPs) toward meeting the diverse mental health needs of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Our Subspecialty Clinic, the MSOPC, includes several specialty teams servicing various diagnoses and clinical needs. These include teams focused on Addiction and Substance Abuse, Sleep Hygiene, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders, Women’s Health, Eating Disorders, Geriatrics, Emerging and Young Adults, Early Onset Psychosis Treatment, Functional Neurological Disorders, Medical Complexity and Pain Psychology. We are searching for individuals to join these established teams, and in particular clinicians with interest in health psychology to address psychological needs of patients with complex medical conditions. There are also opportunities to develop or enhance programs around Trauma, Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder and Neurodivergence, Anxiety, and ADHD. There are opportunities to develop group therapy programs around these different specialty populations, and participate in ongoing groups including DBT and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. As the clinic is housed in an academic medical center, we support individuals in their professional development. In order to maintain clinician wellness, we encourage psychologists to be members of multiple subspeciality teams as this allows for diversity of caseload and the development of new clinical skills. Teaching opportunities are available, including supervision of psychology interns/practicum students, psychiatry residents, and social work fellows. Involvement in research is encouraged, and many opportunities exist for collaborative research efforts across the department. As part of the UT Southwestern Medical Center clinical team in Psychiatry, you will join in an evolving effort to push ahead of the traditional boundaries of medicine, deliver cures and transform patient care. In our growing downtown Dallas campus, we have psychiatrists, psychologists, neuroscientists and many varied students advancing the development of neurotherapeutic interventions for challenging brain disorders, discovering advanced understanding of the causes of psychiatric illnesses and cures. At UT Southwestern, your ideas and skills will be put to work in ways that serve you, our patients, our community, and the world. Our 3,000+ UT Southwestern faculty foster teamwork and teach the skills that best reflect the changing landscape of therapeutics and health care delivery. Our research environment is one of the most advanced in the world, and the day-to-day quest for discovery will inspire your best work. The Department of Psychiatry’s vision is to meet the behavioral health needs of diverse communities across North Texas and beyond by increasing equitable access to psychiatric care and the latest advancements in neuroscience and psychiatry and preparing an effective workforce to achieve these objectives. Our department offers expertise in broad specialty and subspecialty areas of psychiatry and opportunities to collaborate with experts in our field.
