About The Position

Project Renewal is a leading non-profit organization with the mission of building supportive communities where people achieve dignity and independence, renewing their lives with health, homes, and jobs. Our comprehensive and integrated 24/7 programs are designed to offer the holistic care our clients need. With a staff of 950+ and an annual budget of $140 million, Project Renewal is one of the larger social service nonprofits in New York City. The New Providence Women’s Shelter is a 130 bed 24/7 emergency shelter for homeless women diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use. Our comprehensive services include case management, individual and group counseling, recreational activities and housing placement assistance. Additionally, an on-site medical and psychiatric clinic operates Monday through Friday, staffed by a nurse, primary care physician, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with homeless Mentally Ill and Chemical Affected (MICA) individuals or other special needs populations.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work.
  • Certified Social Worker.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist.
  • Assists the Director of Social Services in the supervision of the Social Services Team.
  • Ensures that all policies and protocols are being followed by the staff in the delivery of services to the clients.
  • Provides direct oversight of the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist.
  • Reviews client intake forms regularly for accuracy and completes additional paperwork needed for the completion of case management intakes.
  • Audits client charts weekly to ensure adherence to regulatory standards of service quality.
  • Manages the documentation of critical incidents and keeps a log of the updates.
  • Participates in incident reporting committees and team meetings to determine annual goals.
  • Updates caseload breakdowns and assigns new clients to Case Managers.
  • Organizes and maintains up to date spreadsheets to track progress and updates related to performance measurements.
  • Provides feedback to the New Providence shelter program on their adherence to organizational and regulatory standards of service quality, documentation quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Services or Program Director.
