About The Position

The Clinical coordinator is responsible for managing the medical supplies, assisting with department recruitment, scheduling staff, and maintaining and improving service quality. The Clinical Coordinator works directly with the Nursing Director and other team members who provide health care services to patients to coordinate and manage the treatment processes. He or she will assist with the complete departmental planning to ensure excellent patient care. Utilizes the nursing process for patient care. Utilizes leadership and management skills to support the hospital's philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) Illinois license
  • Basic life support BLS
  • Advanced Life Support ACLS
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention certification
  • Minimum 3 years of management and leadership skills required
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
  • Possess a high level of analytical and organization skills
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills to lead, teach and persuade others and the ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.
  • The individual must possess knowledge of management principles and procedures, knowledgeable about budget calculations, preparations, and variances.
  • Must possess analytical reasoning ability; ability to adapt theory and/or practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures development of patient care standards and maintains compliance with standards for patient care and quality improvement.
  • Participates in process improvement and regulatory readiness to meet regulatory agency standards.
  • Facilitates the arrangement and direction of patient care conferences.
  • Ensures continuity of patient care information between shifts and coordinates patient admitting, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues.
  • Supervises and participates in the daily delivery of patient care on assigned unit/area.
  • Will assume a patient load if the unit is short-staffed.
  • Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers, and other internal/external customers.
  • Ensures that all communications and job activities result in a positive customer experience.
  • Supports and interprets policies and procedures for personnel, physicians, patients, and others as appropriate.
  • Investigates reported policy and procedure variations.
  • Facilitates employee unit in-services on new policies, procedures, equipment, and techniques for patient care.
  • Prepares and maintains staffing schedules.
  • Schedules time, tasks, and activities, and establishes a course of action to accomplish specific goals.
  • Develops the skills, knowledge, and abilities of employees through coaching and development.
  • Assists in orienting new personnel, continuing education, and in-service educational programs.
  • Manages department dynamics and interpersonal relationships.
  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
