About The Position

The Clinical Charge Nurse (CCN) at Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) is a registered nurse responsible for leading nursing operations on the Complex Medical Unit (Unit 4) during the dayshift. This role focuses on supporting patients, families, and staff during critical recovery journeys, with a specific emphasis on Stroke and Neuro patients. The CCN is expected to manage all aspects of patient care for their assigned unit during their shift, demonstrating expertise in complex clinical nursing skills within the rehabilitation population. The position offers a leadership opportunity with real operational influence within a stable hospital setting, distinct from traditional high-volume pressures. The role also involves improving medication safety and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN or related position.
  • Current Indiana State Board of Nursing Licensure and Registration.
  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • CRRN specialty preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the care of patients on their assigned unit for their shift.
  • Work with patients in our Complex Medical Unit, which focuses on Stroke and Neuro patients.
  • Demonstrate expertise in complex clinical nursing skills with the rehabilitation population served.
  • Participate in the evaluation of unit-based activities, holding staff accountable for rounding, beside handoff, use of white boards and timely response to call lights.
  • Mentor staff, including new orientees, and be a demonstrated role model for staff.
  • Maintain a cooperative and professional relationship among all members of the health care and program model teams by communicating information clearly and responding to requests openly.
  • Focus on providing customer satisfaction including but not limited to patients, co-workers, visitors, vendors and physicians.
