The Clinical Charge Nurse RN assists the Director in organizing and supporting the daily operations of the Operating Room in accordance with established federal, state, accreditation, and center policies and procedures. Supports patient care activities in the OR while maintaining a high standard of safety for patients and staff. Performs circulating and/or scrub nurse duties and assists the surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures. Responsible for equipment maintenance, inventory of supplies, Operating Room orientation, and the preparation of complete and accurate medical records.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Strong communication, problem-solving, computer, and organizational skills required.
Current RN license, BLS, and ACLS required.

Nice To Haves

Supervisory, charge, or management experience in an outpatient or inpatient Surgery Center preferred.
CNOR or CNAMB preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direction and guidance to staff based on individual competencies and support continuous learning.
Collaborate with the medical staff and management team to allocate resources based on patient needs, census, acuity, staffing, and unit environment.
Supervise clinical staff under the direction of the Director and coordinate staffing needs.
Support daily unit operations through effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, facility policies, informed consent requirements, and documentation requirements.
Manage disciplinary documentation, facility equipment, and inventory in accordance with policy.
Provide perioperative nursing care, including patient assessment, teaching, safe medication administration, surgical preparation, positioning, specimen handling, counts, and aseptic technique.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked surgical environment and ensure emergency equipment is available.
Demonstrate safe equipment use, troubleshoot equipment concerns, and ensure equipment is functioning properly before use.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and outside clients from diverse backgrounds, using translation or support services as needed.
Oversee medical record accuracy and participate in quality improvement and TQM activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
