Provides ministry to the spiritual and religious needs of patients, families and staff.
Requirements
Bachelor’s and Seminary degree required
Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement by denomination required
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Desire to work with patients in a hospital setting
Knowledge and understanding of the spiritual needs for all age groups
Ability to provide pastoral care services and interact effectively with patients of all ages
Position requires good mobility in order to visit patient floors, emergency room, and other areas in the Health System
Good hearing is important due to nature of the service offered to patients, families, and staff
Nice To Haves
Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent training preferred
3 years pastoral care experience preferred
Responsibilities
Performs pastoral care duties in assigned areas of the Health System
Offers religious services to patients and staff in the Health System
Assists in developing and conducting instructional programs for volunteer Chaplains and local clergy, relative to the spiritual care of patients, medical ethics, health care ministry, etc.
Conducts health care ministry seminars, classes, and workshops for health system staff
Assists in the administration of the volunteer Chaplain Associate Program
Provides pastoral care on-call for after hours and weekends in conjunction with other Chaplains in the Health System
Maintains records of significant information, including monthly pastoral care statistics of patient, family, and staff interactions
