Requirements

  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Attention to detail, especially when handling patient information
  • Comfort working with schedules, data entry, and clerical tasks
  • Ability to follow processes while maintaining confidentiality
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support others
  • Medical Office Assistant Associate’s degree; or
  • Associate’s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time administrative support experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or
  • High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, completion of an Roswell Park-approved Medical Assistant certificate program and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time administrative support experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or
  • High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time administrative support experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or
  • High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in customer service and successful completion of a Clinical Center Associate traineeship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park).

  • Previous administrative or healthcare experience is helpful, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and care
  • Answer phones, respond to routine questions, and direct calls appropriately
  • Maintain and coordinate clinic schedules to support smooth daily operations
  • Record and transcribe physician orders accurately
  • Support the patient check-in and co-pay collection process
  • Help keep patient information organized and up to date
  • Work closely with team members to support daily clinic activities
