This is a 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per two-week pay period) with 8-hour Day shifts and no weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field
  • 1+ years of clinical cardiac experience
  • Medical Terminology
  • Certified clinical exercise physiologist by American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified within 6 months of hire. Employees hired prior to 10/1/2024 must achieve ACSM certification within 12 months of hire. Exception: American Society of Exercise Physiology (ASEP) Certification will be accepted in place of ACSM for employees who are ASEP certified and hired prior to 2005.
  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house ACLS training (within 60 days of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • MS or MA in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field
  • 2+ years of exercise testing experience, to include use of cardiac equipment; demonstrated knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology with regards to rest and exercise situations

Responsibilities

  • Assists with cardiac clinic responsibilities, including chart preparation, patient reminder calls, rooming patients, obtaining patient health histories, vitals, reason for visit, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), 5-meter walk tests, and blood pressures while patient is walking.
  • Maintains clinic equipment, supplies, linen and education materials. Orders supplies and communicates with vendors when needed.
  • Performs EKG and Holter analysis, including editing EKGs based on provider interpretation and direction.
  • Educates patients regarding the holter monitor process and administers the connection between patient and equipment.
  • May perform holter analysis, reading and preparing EKG information for physician interpretation.
  • Completes charting and billing.
  • Administers Patient Testing, which may include monitoring Cardiac Stress testing (Graded Exercise Testing, Nuclear Medicine Stress Testing, Stress Echo Testing) and Advanced Cardiac testing (Cardiopulmonary stress testing, Enhanced External Counter Pulsation Treatment, monitoring tilt study test).
  • Testing responsibilities include verifying order accuracy, completing patient history review, chart preparation, patient preparation (vitals, IV access), providing patient education, administering the test (selection, connecting/disconnecting equipment, monitoring vitals and heart rhythms), completing chart documentation, transcription, charging, and escalating concerns or abnormal findings.
