Functions as a clinical navigator with a specific set of skills beyond licensure requirements to provide better patient care, quality, safety and informational accuracy for breast imaging care. This role will support the nurse navigator in their absence and provide oversight to the outside imaging consultation process. Ensures proper examination for the proper indication at the proper time. Vetting diagnostics. Ensure that all patient charts are accurate and investigated prior to appointments. Consult 2nd Opinion and Curbside requests. Ensures that all information and images are complete prior to submission to the radiologist. When imaging/reports are incomplete; oversees retrieval of missing items. Responsible for patient imaging up to 20% of the time. It will be the expectation that this role will be expected to provide clinical coverage as needed due to extenuating circumstances. Works with department and system leadership to create a dashboard with drivers for quality metric improvements within breast imaging that align with the defined radiology strategic plan. Responsibilities may include monitoring consult turnaround times, scheduling errors, missing orders, etc. Pathology entry and follow up of interventional imaging studies. Serves as a backup for the nurse navigator. Incumbent may work under close supervision following established routines or assigned work with limited employee latitude. Employee may work under general supervision and receives general guidance on work priority with substantial employee latitude. Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader.
