This role provides basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. The Clinical Associate welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration, and may assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. They coordinate patient flow into/out of the area using department/unit specific software and Intranet, and schedule patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities may include reviewing medical records for outstanding orders, notifying nurses of stat orders and medication changes, cleaning unit-based equipment, gathering supplies, and transporting patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment within the facility. The role may also involve chart audits, performing unit-based patient care tasks, and participating in the sitter process. The Clinical Associate interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals, answers incoming calls, routes calls as needed, and takes messages. They provide scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, operate and maintain general office equipment, order department/unit supplies and equipment, and stock/organize supplies. Additionally, they serve as a resource for department/unit software systems, monitor the cleanliness of waiting and break rooms, perform safety/environmental rounds, and assist with maintaining regulatory compliance in the unit. Mandatory orientation classes are required during the first two weeks of employment, held during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with most classes being in-person.
