Clinical Associate - 9 CST Medical Cardiac PCU - FT
About The Position

As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. 9 CST is a 20 bed Medical Cardiology Progressive Care Unit within the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) that serves patients 18 years and older. Our progressive care nurses’ practice in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment, multiple therapies, and interventions. This position is full time, working the day/evening/night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus when successful candidate meets applicable guidelines.

- none unless the following: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
- AHA BLS-HCP required.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
- Must be organized and self -motivated.
- Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
- May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
- Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
- Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
- Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
- May assist with chart audits.
- May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
- May participate in the sitter process
- Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
- Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
- Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
- Operates and maintains general office equipment. Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
- Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
- Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
- Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
