This role functions as a member of the practice clinical care delivery team, providing selected clinical care to patients under the direction of a LPN, RN, or provider. The position also performs clerical/administrative duties associated with front desk operations under the direction of the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years Experience in a physician office practice setting or healthcare setting
  • Demonstrates initiative and is able to function independently, as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to change.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including EMR, word processing and Excel.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery; answers telephones and directs calls appropriately.
  • Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse as needed and directed.
  • Provides direct and indirect care for designated patients, as appropriate and as assigned, after completion of required education and demonstrated competency.
  • Refers clinical issues or problems beyond the scope of responsibility to the licensed nurse, Clinical Coordinator/Manager, Clinical Educator, or provider in a timely manner.
  • Completes vital signs on patients after completing the vital sign competency assessment. Vital signs are to include, but are not limited to, height, weight, head circumference, growth charts, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening and any others specific to the practice.
  • Troubleshoots and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance, managed care plans, and medical authorization requirements.
  • Ensures environment is safe for employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Corrects and reports unsafe situations and practices.
  • Attends and satisfactorily completes all clinical and clerical competency training, as required.
