About The Position

The Clinical Assistant (Float) supports orthopedic clinic operations by maintaining exam rooms, preparing and disinfecting supplies and equipment, assisting with patient care and procedures, and completing front-desk and administrative tasks. The role floats between the Fremont and Hayward clinic locations as needed.

Requirements

Two years of Medical Assistant experience (required).
Certified Medical Assistant certification (required).

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

Maintain exam rooms and stock supplies.
Disinfect equipment and instruments.
Pre-certify medications and assist with procedures or treatments when appropriate.
Draw blood.
Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage.
Schedule surgeries, hospital procedures, pre- and post-operative appointments, and other appointments with the correct physician.
Register patients accurately by collecting required information, registering insurance, and collecting co-pays, co-insurance, surgery deposits, and account payments.
Scan IDs and insurance cards, and print and obtain signatures on required documents.
Arrange authorizations, interpreters, or transportation when required for appointments.
Respond to alert notes applicable to the front desk.
Complete daily paperwork, including data details, financial policies, and privacy notices; expire alert notes when tasks are completed.
Scan documents daily, including data details, financial policies, privacy documents, authorizations, referrals, and miscellaneous documents.
Sort incoming faxes and delegate them to the correct person or department.
Oversee the waiting room to ensure patients are attended to within a reasonable amount of time.
Inform patients when the MD, PA, or NP is running behind.
Float between Fremont and Hayward clinic locations as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
