This is a 6-week full-time equivalent commitment training program for Clinical Assistants (CA). CAs are essential to hands-on patient care, working under the supervision of an RN. Their duties include taking and recording vital signs, performing designated tests, collecting patient samples, and assisting patients with daily living activities. CAs are the first point of contact for patients and families on the unit, responsible for welcoming and acclimating them. They also interact with unit staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel, requiring timely and accurate communication and documentation in a team-oriented, customer-friendly environment. Proficiency in a computerized medical setting is necessary. The program includes 80 hours of classroom time and 160 hours of clinical rotations. Upon successful completion, students will have the opportunity to apply for vacant CA positions in the Med/Surg Tower and may be eligible for sign-on bonuses.
