About The Position

The University of North Dakota's College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines (CNPD) seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor to serve as the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Track Director. The CNPD's mission is to provide excellent and collaborative education, scholarship, and service to advance human well-being for all, with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations. The FNP Track Director will provide leadership for the overall planning, organization, and evaluation of the FNP Program, working collaboratively with administrators and faculty to ensure a high-quality academic program. This role is a member of the Nursing Graduate Council and reports to the Chair of the Graduate Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with the standards and policies of the School of Graduate Studies. This is an on-campus position with potential for limited hybrid flexibility, and the CNPD may offer flexibility to support clinical practice in the Grand Forks, ND region while maintaining strong on-campus engagement.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in nursing
  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Unencumbered nursing license
  • Ability to obtain license in ND and other states as required
  • Current clinical experience as an FNP
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Highly-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to the profession's values
  • High interest in working as part of a collaborative team

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Advising Students in the FNP track (includes advising independent study projects). Potential courses to be taught include: NURS 544 Pharmacotherapeutics for Primary Care, NURS 532 Family Nursing, NURS 534 Management of Health Conditions I, NURS 540 Management of Health Conditions II, NURS 559 Maternal & Child Health Conditions I, NURS 597 Advanced Clinical Practicum, NURS 609 DNP Project Teams, NURS 997 Independent Study
  • Serve as Track Director for the Family Nurse Practitioner Track
  • Provide leadership for curriculum development, implementation & evaluation of the FNP track
  • Promote development of the FNP program at the local, state and national level
  • Maintain all pertinent records for the FNP program as required
  • Serve as program track representative at various meetings
  • Report applicable measures as part of the college assessment plan
  • Participate in inter-professional collaboration as relevant
  • Complete program grant applications to support the track as applicable
  • Assist in the recruitment of students to the track
  • Communicate with prospective FNP students
  • Make recommendations to the graduate school on decisions regarding admission to the track
  • Serve as academic advisor and develop plans of study for students in the track
  • Guide and monitor program progression of FNP students
  • Work in collaboration with clinical placement team to secure clinical practicum sites for FNP students
  • Assist with recruitment, mentoring and evaluations for faculty teaching in the FNP track
  • Provide guidance to course faculty to resolve student issues
  • Service to the University, College and/or Department Specific duties will be coordinated with the department chair
