About The Position

The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery, seeks a full-time faculty position for a Surgical Psychologist at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will include overall responsibility for the on-going, day-to-day operations of the psychological services/family management component of the trauma system, inclusive of crisis interventions, grief counseling, individual, family and group therapies, stress debriefings, psychological assessments and diagnoses, in-patient consultation/liaison services, and out-patient follow-up/referral as needed. Also provide on-going stress management consultation and debriefings as needed for surgical residents, medical students, nursing staff, and other allied health professionals. Must have experience in program development and initiative and must be familiar working with a culturally diverse patient population that will include adults and children. Teaching responsibilities include co-direct supervision of the psychology post-doctoral fellow within the Division of Acute Care Surgery, and clinical teaching to medical residents, students, allied professionals and nursing staff on the psychological aspects of physical injury and other related topics specific to a collaborative care model, i.e. effective communication, capacity issues, stress management. Expected administrative responsibilities include membership on various committees at the hospital, local and University level. Also responsible for consistently obtaining and maintaining extra-mural funding for research activities, development and administration of research studies, scholarly presentations at the local, regional and national level, and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

Doctoral Level Licensed Psychologist (or license-eligible)
Doctorate in Clinical and/or Counseling Psychology
Clinical experience working within an acute care hospital setting
