About The Position

Boise State University's School of Respiratory Care is seeking an online, 11-month Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor for its Master’s of Science in Respiratory Care (MSRC) Degree Advancement Program. This full-time faculty position involves teaching online students, serving as lead faculty and content expert for selected courses, and performing quality improvement tasks to ensure high-quality online course delivery. The role requires active engagement with students as a faculty advisor, maintaining online office hours, and providing constructive feedback through various communication modes. As a non-tenured faculty member, the position requires demonstrated experience in clinical areas, a track record as a clinical educator, leadership experience, and some teaching experience. The workload is primarily teaching (80%) with a portion dedicated to service (20%), which can include advising, meetings, committee service, and professional development. Research or scholarly activities are not required as part of the regular assignment. The position is on an annual, 11-month contract with a salary range of $80,000-$90,000 and is eligible for a remote work arrangement.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Respiratory Care or a related field.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential and current state license.
  • At least one year of teaching experience in a respiratory care program or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Proficient in online teaching and learning strategies and Canvas or a similar Learning Management System.
  • Proficient in the development of learning objectives, assessment measures, and curriculum design.
  • At least three years of clinical experience working as a Respiratory Therapist.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years or more of full-time teaching experience.
  • Three years or more of online teaching experience.
  • Training in Quality Matters.
  • At least one (1) NBRC (or other health care related) specialty credential/or certificate.
  • Critical care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Doctoral degree.
  • Research mentorship experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching online students in the MSRC Degree Advancement Program.
  • Serving as lead faculty and content expert for selected courses.
  • Performing quality improvement tasks each semester to ensure the highest quality online courses.
  • Being highly responsive to students as a faculty advisor.
  • Promoting the high quality of customer service adhered to by the School.
  • Having online office hours and utilizing multiple modes of communication (email, phone, video conferencing).
  • Providing students with constructive, encouraging, corrective, and timely feedback.
  • Advising students.
  • Participating in meetings and committee service.
  • Participating in appropriate professional development activities.
