About The Position

The Clinical Assistant CNA performs designated tasks for patients in all age groups in a clinic setting. This role may perform basic monitoring, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. The position requires good communication skills, support for teamwork in patient care delivery, and customer relations consistent with the hospital’s purpose, vision, and values. The ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions effectively is essential. The role involves collecting specimens, observing and recording vital signs, obtaining weight and height, cleaning and preparing exam rooms, reporting changes in patients’ condition, utilizing EMR, obtaining patient history, performing simple lab and screening tests, disinfecting equipment, completing medication reconciliations, and potentially scheduling tests or referrals. The Clinical Assistant is also responsible for reporting any faulty equipment, infection, or safety hazards and using equipment and supplies in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • Certified Nurse Aide or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • BLS or must obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs designated tasks for patients in all age groups in clinic setting.

  • Must have good communication skills and support team work in the delivery of patient care as well as demonstrate customer relations consistent with the hospital’s purpose, vision, and values.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions effectively.
  • Collects specimens as assigned using correct policy and procedure for collection, labeling, and transporting specimens to the lab.
  • Observed and record vital signs accurately and in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Obtains weight and height on patients as assigned and/or according to policy.
  • Cleans and prepares exam rooms following each patient and all medical histories.
  • Accurately and promptly reports changes in patients’ condition to the provider.
  • Understands and utilizes EMR.
  • Accurately obtains patient history/information.
  • May perform simple lab and screening tests with competency.
  • Properly disinfects equipment as per policy.
  • Completes medication reconciliations.
  • May be responsible for scheduling of tests or referrals and communicating to patient.
  • Reports any faulty equipment, infection or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Uses equipment and supplies in safe, efficient manner
