Requirements

  • Must have earned at least a Master's degree from an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant program AND hold a current NCCPA certification
  • Must have an unrestricted Texas state license (or be license eligible) as a Physician Assistant.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities
  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical precepting or teaching experience for an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant or program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Program Director to ensure cohesiveness of the clinical curriculum by implementing curricula that are in harmony with the educational philosophy of the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine (Tarleton MMSc-PAM).
  • Design original or review and modify as appropriate existing curricula to correlate with program-defined learning outcomes and competencies.
  • Responsible for generating and delivering classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics based on the individual’s qualifications.
  • Actively participate in programmatic data gathering and analysis, as well as design and implementation of action plans in response to the analysis.
  • Actively participate in the accreditation process.
  • Actively participate in the admissions process.
  • Provide effective student advisement and mentorship.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in Physician Assistant medical education, scholarly activity, and servant leadership in the areas of rural health.
  • Develop, maintain, and review all clinical sites and respective affiliation agreements alongside the Medical Director
  • Provide each clinical preceptor orientation on Competency Based Medical Education focusing on instruction and assessment of the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine program competencies.
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to support staff members involved in the clinical phase of the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine.
  • Conduct clinical site visits to evaluate learners and preceptors.
  • Effectively develop and implement all clerkship assignments and assessments
  • Plan and implement all activities during the end of clerkship days
  • Work closely with the Director of Didactic Education in the oversight and implementation of the overall curricular design, to ascertain a seamless transition from the didactic phase into the clinical phase of the program
  • Ensure that the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine clinical curriculum challenges learners while facilitating their professional development.
  • Provide effective advising and mentoring for learners
  • Conduct data collection and analysis for the clinical phase of the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine program.
  • Provide support and assistance in continuous programmatic assessment and accreditation processes
  • Provide course instruction according to the expertise of the candidate as needed by the program.
  • Participate in grant development for rural service-learning initiatives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in Physician Assistant medical education, scholarly activity, and servant leadership in the areas of rural health.
