About The Position

The Clinical Applications Specialist is responsible for training and helping radiologists optimize the use of clinical systems, including PACS, RIS, EMR, and voice recognition systems. The Clinical Applications Specialist reports to the Director of IT, with accountability to both the radiology group and the IT department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (healthcare or information systems discipline preferred)
  • 4+ years in a clinical setting, preferably in a radiology setting.
  • Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience working with EHR, PACS, or RIS Systems.
  • Experience training physicians preferred.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Basic computer/keyboard skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages technical implementation projects for new clinical (radiologist facing) software and new hospital/outpatient facility contracts.
  • Subject Matter Expert on clinical systems used by radiologists, including both those managed by the radiology group and those managed by hospitals. Includes Clario workflow management software, PACS (Intelerad, Sectra, Visage, IntelliSpace, GE Centricity UV, and McKesson), EHR/RIS (Epic/Radiant and Cerner), and Powerscribe 360.
  • Creates and disseminates training materials and documentation.
  • Provides Radiologists with ongoing training and recommendations on the efficient use of clinical applications.
  • Works with Billing, Compliance and Administration departments to identify radiologist training needs, patient care requirements, and then provide the training. Focus on both compliance and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems impacting radiologists across the practice.
  • Reviews feedback from Radiologists, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.
  • Works closely with radiology quality management personnel to identify future needs and to design efficient workflow processes.
  • Attends and participates in departmental, BIC, and hospital meetings as needed.
  • Performs other functions as required and assigned.
