About The Position

This job leads the daily operations of personnel and processes of assigned clinical department(s) in collaboration with the clinic leadership. Assists in the implementation of policies and procedures required for success and participates in initiatives to improve processes and patient care activities. This clinic is seeking EITHER a Clinic Team Lead OR a Medical Assistant Lead. Both job descriptions are listed below. MEDICAL ASSISTANT LEAD The Medical Assistant Lead provides individualized, medical care of assigned patients in person, electronically and via telephone under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. A Medical Assistant Lead is capable of performing all aspects of a Medical Assistant role. Additionally, the Medical Assistant Lead proactively takes the initiative and serves as an informal leader with additional responsibilities related to clinic/service line/location. The Medical Assistant Lead serves as an ambassador, change agent, quality champion and mentor/resource to Medical Assistants by providing support, guidance and training as needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of patient registration and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years years of experience as a medical assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Advanced Clinical knowledge
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates staff performance by collaborating with other team members to allocate labor resources among clinics and monitoring production.
  • Monitors patient flow activities.
  • Monitors department metric performance.
  • Assists in the training, orientation and staff development programs.
  • Assists with patient registration tasks when necessary.
  • Provides training and mentoring to clinical staff and provides feedback to leader for staff performance evaluations.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
  • Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
  • Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit
  • Ensures the patient’s questions are answered prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment
  • Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person
  • Performs basic laboratory tests, administers injections, and collects specimens
  • Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration, preauthorizations or referrals as necessary
  • Performs required responsibilities based on the standard work for their department with minimal supervision with the ability, skill and knowledge to work in more than one specialty area. Surgery scheduling will also be part of this position.
  • Maintains required advanced, clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development
  • Maintains clinical supply inventory
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for medical assistants providing training and coaching
  • Meets the procedures of the Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs, if working in an occupational health clinic
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
