As the Clinic Supervisor at Dignity Health Medical Foundation Elk Grove, the role involves overseeing the staff (patient care team, front desk, records, and ancillary services) in the outpatient clinic. The supervisor is expected to positively affect the health and well-being of entire communities, advocate for their team, and align with operational goals and objectives. To thrive in this role, accountability, confidence, excellent communication skills (one-on-one and in groups), and comfort in holding tough conversations regarding performance are essential.

Requirements

  • 3 years of Outpatient Clinic Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise productive, engaged teams and work with providers
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the budgeting process, management reports, accounting, purchasing and patient billing process and systems
  • Knowledge of computers, systems and software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, clinical information systems, electronic medical records, billing systems, and other application packages
  • Health insurance knowledge of HMO, PPO and capitated risk plan contracts as they relate to providers and practices
  • Is a visible and results oriented leader with a focus on doing what it takes to get the job done while ensuring strong interpersonal relationships
  • Employs a style that is transparent, credible, and focused on relationship building, influence, conviction and integrity
  • High degree of resilience, has a sense of urgency, is outcome driven and can thrive in an environment of rapid change while effectively managing pressure in an effective and professional manner

Nice To Haves

  • Previous out-patient practice management experience
  • Previous experience in the assigned medical group
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience in a union environment
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or healthcare administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • RN or LVN license & experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee smooth flow of clinic operations, acts as a resource to staff for operational needs, and handles day-to-day patient satisfaction concerns
  • Ensure your direct reports and department are positioned to deliver the best care possible to our patients
  • Recruit, hire, train, discipline and supervise staff, including performance evaluations, and competency assessments
  • Assist with budget development, management and issues cost effective operations
  • Monitor productivity and efficiency of your department
  • Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with the patient care team
  • Collaborate with Manager, Clinic Operations, to support a vision and culture that reflects a patient care-focused environment
  • Collaborate, as appropriate, to discuss and effectively resolve operational, staff and financial issues pertaining to the practice
  • Participate in work groups, teams, task forces and committees to support ongoing improvement in care center operations
  • Provide value-added and productive input and expertise to drive continual improvement, support standardization and streamlining and to resolve ongoing patient care issues
  • Ensure care center meets established standards. Takes ownership of and appropriate action to improve care center performance
  • Assist the Manager, Clinic Operations to manage product recall issues. Ensures medications and medical supplies are removed from inventory and disposed of properly, per direction from manufacturer, Department of Health, etc.
  • Support the Manager, Clinic Operations in overseeing quality of task (i.e., electronic health record) management to support patients and providers. Audits for accuracy and completeness. Reviews task routing and response times
  • Coach staff on areas of improvement
