Located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2000 Washington Street, in Newton, MA) in the White building, the Division of Rheumatology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital provides patient care, medical education, and clinical research. Our team of 5 providers perform all outpatient, emergency room, and inpatient evaluations for patients with rheumatic disorders. Our state-of-the-art treatment is provided for conditions and diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system, which includes joints, soft tissues, connective tissues, muscles, and bones. Our physicians diagnose and treat autoimmune diseases and different types of arthritis. We are seeking a Full-Time, 40-hour Clinic/Practice assistant to support out outpatient Rheumatology office onsite Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. We are looking for a second team member to join our close-knit front desk team and work closely besides our current front desk team member. Did we mention we have free parking?

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • office experience 3-5 years required

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
  • Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
  • Assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments.
  • Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
  • Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems.
  • Provides assistance and training to others in these areas.
  • May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
  • Provides functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants.
  • In conjunction with Supervisor oversees daily activities of practice staff.
  • May be required to accept co-payments.
  • Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
