About The Position

The Elfers Cardiovascular Center, located at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, provides comprehensive outpatient care for patients at high risk of heart disease, including diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care. This role may require local travel to other Newton-Wellesley Cardiology sites for cross-coverage. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The Clinic/Practice Assistant performs both administrative and clinical functions to ensure smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations, working under minimal supervision. This includes patient scheduling, check-in, and check-out duties, and may vary by department. This position does not require direct patient care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Office experience: 3-5 years required.
Ability to commute to various locations/reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Perform routine administrative and clerical duties related to a clinical service or physician practice office.
Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
Assist callers with routine inquiries and schedule appointments.
Process patient billing forms and scan documents to the patient medical record/LMR.
Act as a "Super User" for scheduling, registration, and billing systems, providing assistance and training to others.
May perform more complex or specialized functions such as surgical scheduling or schedule changes/blocking.
Provide functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants.
In conjunction with the Supervisor, oversee daily activities of practice staff.
May be required to accept co-payments.
Handle, screen, and/or take messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
