Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of RHC-CBS certification with 12 months of hire.
  • Must know about ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
  • Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and computers.
  • Must exemplify good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must have ability to problem-solve and work independently and efficiently.
  • Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must have normal range of eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Requires sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Requires lifting paper or boxes up to 35 pounds when needed.
  • Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required to maintain infection control standards.
  • Must submit to COVID-19 testing as required by CMS and other regulatory agencies according to FCMC policy.
  • Must have full COVID-19 vaccination (some exemptions allowed).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in medical coding or related medical field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completing all coding related to the physician offices in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reviewing documentation to ensure capture of all diagnoses and procedures.
  • Coding all surgical procedures performed by the Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OBGYN, and Behavioral Health.
  • Ensuring coded services, provider charges, and medical record documentation meet appropriate guidelines or standards.
  • Ensuring that all documented professional services are submitted and billed promptly.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians and staff regarding coding and documentation concerns or issues.
  • Working as a team member within the Business department, assisting with other duties when needed.
