The Clinic Phlebotomist is responsible for verifying positive patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all age groups. This role also involves performing limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answering telephone calls, assisting with inventory and supplies, processing specimens for transport and testing, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and conducting proficiency testing. Additionally, the phlebotomist may instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions and must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care.
