About The Position

Under the CEO's direction, the Director of Clinic Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all outpatient clinical services, ensuring efficient, compliant, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care. This position oversees daily operations for a Primary Care Clinic, a Same-Day Walk-In Clinic, a Behavioral Health Clinic, an Addiction and Pain Management Clinic, and a Dental Clinic. The Director directly supervises all clinic supervisors and serves as a key leader in integrating clinical services, improving access, optimizing workflows, and supporting the Tribe’s mission to provide high-quality, culturally grounded healthcare.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in outpatient healthcare operations, preferably in a multi-service clinic setting.
  • Experience supervising supervisors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of outpatient clinic workflows, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Tribal health, Indian Health Service, FQHC, or rural healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with integrated care models, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and dental clinic operations.
  • Understanding of Tribal governance and culturally grounded healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall operational oversight for all outpatient clinical services, working closely on-site with the clinic supervisors to ensure efficient clinic flow, staffing coverage, and service coordination.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve clinic operations policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Ensure consistency of operations across all service lines while supporting program-specific needs.
  • Lead clinic operations planning, including hours of operation, same-day access, patient throughput, and capacity management.
  • Directly supervise clinic supervisors, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and respectful communication across all clinical teams.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of clinic staff in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Foster a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure clinic operations comply with applicable Tribal, federal, and state regulations, including HRSA, CMS, IHS, and accreditation standards as applicable.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to monitor quality indicators, patient safety concerns, and operational performance metrics.
  • Address operational risks, patient grievances, and workflow issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Support integrated care models that coordinate primary care, behavioral health, substance use services, and dental care.
  • Collaborate with providers and leadership to reduce barriers to care and improve patient engagement and outcomes.
  • Assist with clinic operational budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-effective use of staffing and supplies.
  • Monitor operational productivity and utilization metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Support grant-funded programs and reporting requirements related to clinic operations.
  • Serve as a key member of the health leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, dental, IT, facilities, and administrative leadership.
  • Represent clinic operations in internal meetings, community forums, and external partnerships as assigned.
