About The Position

The Clinic Medical Assistant works at Orthocare Clinic in Harlingen, Texas, supporting orthopedic examinations and procedures. The role includes preparing patients, recording histories and vital signs, assisting with orthopedic care, coordinating diagnostic testing, maintaining examination rooms and supplies, scheduling appointments, and updating electronic health records. The position is full-time, with 8-hour day shifts.

A nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification is required. A current AHA BLS certificate is required upon hire and must be maintained. The employer offers programs to help employees obtain Basic Life Support certification.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Medical Assistant certification from the National Healthcare Association or another nationally recognized organization.
• Current AHA BLS certificate upon hire and maintenance of current certification.
• At least one year of work experience in a public-contact job.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in health care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for orthopedic examinations and procedures.
• Record patient history, vital signs, and orthopedic-specific information.
• Instruct patients on pre-operative and post-operative care and medication regimens.
• Assist with orthopedic procedures, including bandaging, splinting, and wound care.
• Facilitate diagnostic and imaging tests, such as X-rays and MRIs, and ensure accurate documentation of results.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, including sterilization and inventory management of medical supplies and equipment.
• Schedule patient appointments, manage charts, and update electronic medical record systems with patient information.
