Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of one year experience working as a medical assistant in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel between clinic locations as required.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license, a good driving record and liability insurance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a multi-site healthcare environment or as a float medical assistant.
- Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician credentials.
- Familiarity with insurance billing and coding procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in patient education and counseling.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Assist healthcare providers during clinical procedures and examinations to ensure patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
- Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and coordinating with other departments as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and ensure medical equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and provide instructions for follow-up care.
- Adapt to working in multiple clinic locations as a float staff member, ensuring consistent quality of care across sites.
