About The Position

Performs general nursing care to patients. Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Takes admission history and records it in patient's chart. Administers and/or dispenses prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to clinic physician. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patients. Assists in performing lab tests as ordered by physician. Maintains timely flow of patients and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Arranges for out-patient testing. Instructs patients in preparing for and/or collection of samples and tests. Responds to and screens incoming calls. Makes follow-up calls to patients as needed and checks with physician for med refills and responds in timely manner. Assists in maintaining electronic patient charts and posting exam/test results. Performs venipuncture and venous access procedures. Must be knowledgeable of "code" procedures and medications used during "codes". Maintains stock of necessary supplies in exam rooms. Ensures cleanliness of exam rooms. Prepares weekly order list of supplies and medications. Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives. Attends required meetings and in-services as directed by Nursing Supervisor. Maintains professionalism and patient confidentiality. Performs related works as required. Practices universal precautions according to OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of state nursing license
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA guidelines compliance program for universal precautions.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of "code" procedures and medications used during "codes".
