About The Position

Join one of the nation’s leading academic health systems in a highly specialized and rewarding nursing leadership role. The Clinic Lead Nurse I serves as a key clinical leader within MUSC’s nationally recognized Mohs Surgery program, combining hands-on patient care with meaningful leadership responsibilities in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This position offers the unique opportunity to practice at the top of your nursing license while working alongside expert surgeons, histotechnologists, and an experienced, high-performing nursing team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. As a frontline leader, you will help shape patient experience, support team engagement and professional development, and contribute to the continued success of a respected Mohs Surgery practice. In addition to providing direct patient care, including surgical assisting, circulating, and independent nurse-led wound care and follow-up visits, you will play an integral role in maintaining efficient clinic operations, promoting quality and safety initiatives, and fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture. This role is in an ambulatory care environment with a predictable schedule, with no nights, weekends, or MUSC-recognized holiday shifts. The primary location is in Mt. Pleasant with occasional support to the North Charleston clinic.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree of Nursing and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse are required.
  • Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS if required by clinic.
  • Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.
  • Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.
  • Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Previously Ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
