About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant Phlebotomist obtains blood samples, transports samples for medical testing, and processes specimens according to protocol and procedures. The position works with the team to support comprehensive, compassionate patient care. It is a full-time, 1.0 FTE role with day shifts scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., including shift times of 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The role is based at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, a 226-bed not-for-profit hospital serving the Yakima Valley.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or eligibility for Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification.

• Experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures professionally and skillfully at various sites, and explain the procedure to patients.
• Ensure blood draws are collected in a timely manner and periodically check pending workload lists for specimen accountability.
• Accurately label patient samples according to hospital policy.
• Transport samples for medical testing and process specimens according to protocols and procedures.
