About The Position

The Clinic Courier Assistant conducts daily inventory, replenishes supplies, and maintains related records. Couriers receive, check in, store, issue, and deliver equipment and supplies. They verify and sort charges, participate in the orientation and training of other personnel, and assist in sorting and verifying charges for supplies, equipment, and services delivered. This role also involves cleaning, disinfecting, and storing equipment, monitoring stock levels, and notifying the Supervisor of items in short supply.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year of directly related work experience
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment handled by the department
  • Knowledge of the principles of receiving, storing, picking, staging, and shipping materials.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff to resolve problems relating to warehouse/distribution functions.
  • Ability to assess, identify, and respond to urgent or stat requests in an efficient, effective, and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to clean, disinfect, and store equipment; monitor stock levels and notify supervisor of items in short supply.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to maintain professional behavior and appearance.
  • Ability to make minor repairs to equipment.
  • Ability to manage time.
  • Ability to promote a positive work environment by practicing good communication, diversity awareness, and teamwork.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately perform daily inventory, restocking, and maintenance of supply carts.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily inventory and replenishes supplies.
  • Receives, checks in, stores, issues, and delivers equipment and supplies.
  • Verifies and sorts charges for supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and stores equipment.
  • Monitors stock levels and notifies Supervisor of items in short supply.
  • Unpacks and inspects items, which may include hazardous materials, for damage/shortage.
  • Functions as a courier, including picking up and delivering supplies (potentially hazardous materials) to offsite and regional locations, and managing/delivering linen inventory.
  • Assists the dispatch function by answering customer inquiries and filling requisitions.
  • Stores items at designated locations accurately.
  • Conducts daily cycle counts of supplies.
  • Examines incoming shipments to verify receipt of correct types and quantities of materials and supplies.
  • Picks and stages items for shipment to vendors.
  • Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic systems.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of other personnel as assigned.
  • Performs patient and supply transport functions.
  • Performs daily inventories in designated areas utilizing a hand-held computer at all regional locations.
  • Picks up charges and batches them for transmittal to Data Processing.
  • Receives and fills phone and long form orders for supplies and/or equipment.
  • Delivers clean equipment and picks up soiled equipment.
  • Receives, checks in, and stores supply shipments; notifies Supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Seeks resources for direction when necessary.
