About The Position

The DuPage County Health Department is looking for a new team member, bilingual in Spanish, at our Central Public Health Center, located at our Wheaton office. In this role, you will be working in the Family Health Services programs with the maternal and child health population. You will be responsible for performing clerical duties to assist with the efficient movement of clients through the clinic. We are looking for someone with the ability to adhere to office procedures while providing courteous customer service. The hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, with one to two days per week working until 7:00 pm. This position offers a full DuPage County benefit package, which includes Affordable Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 12 paid holidays, 12 days of paid vacation, 5 paid personal days, accrued sick leave, and 12 weeks of paid parental time. This is also a pension-eligible position, and we are a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness and offer tuition and certification reimbursement. Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma/GED.
  • One year of experience working in a customer service or human/social services-related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
  • Attendance at paid New Hire Orientation at our Central Public Health Center in Wheaton is required.
  • Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; some knowledge of medical terminology and filing systems; some knowledge of program requirements and eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Updates client records; enters client’s data into computer systems including revising or updating addresses and telephone numbers.
  • Schedules appointments: ensures that release forms or consent forms have been signed; prepares various forms and worksheets.
  • Assists with determining client eligibility for programs.
  • Sets up clinic rooms with appropriate supplies; processes daily reports; monitors on hand supplies and coordinates replenishment as needed.
  • Assists clients with tests such as hemoglobin, blood pressure, and physical measurements.
  • Obtains health histories from patients by conducting patient interviews; follows-up on client status; performs duties necessary to close clinics.
  • Assists with interpretation
  • Participates in monthly staff meetings, in-services, or other agency meetings/events
  • Maintains required training, licensure, and/or certification.
  • Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
  • Participates in emergency response activities as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
  • Supports, adapts, or delivers services in a manner which ensures understanding and inclusion of diverse client populations.
