About The Position

The Clinic Aide reports to the Manager, Clinical Services in Student Wellness Services. The role of the Clinic Aide is to assist physicians and nurses in the Health and Performance Centre (HPC), and when required, in Student Health Services. This position is a regular full-time position of 30 hours per week.

Requirements

• High School graduation.
• Exceptional organizational skills and time management
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the Infection Prevention and Control practices for clinical spaces/PIDAC guidelines.
• IT knowledge and familiarity with electronic medical records. Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues.
• Teamwork, effective communication, and a positive, helpful attitude are required for this role.
• Demonstrate an approach that supports diversity and inclusion with equal access to health care services when interacting with patients, visitors and co-workers
• Demonstrated focus on patient-centred care with respect of patient privacy and confidentiality

Nice To Haves

• Post secondary school education in a related field preferred combined with some work experience in a clinical setting, or a combination of related education and experience.
• Familiarity with core elements for medical clinic office best practices will be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the appointment schedule, prepare and restock exam rooms, bring students/patients to exam rooms for their appointments, assist the physician/clinician during the appointment as required, manage clinical supply inventory and perform cleaning practices according to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines for clinical environments.
• Ensure that the appointment schedule is followed, and the clinic flow is maintained.
• Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients and provides chaperoning during appointments on request.
• Support the administrative and non-clinical work of the physician and nurses in the clinical area as assigned.
• Periodic reassignment to Student Health Services for the support of operational needs is to be expected.
