About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is seeking a full-time physician BE/BC in Pediatrics, Adolescent, or in Medicine-Pediatrics to care for infants, children, youth, and young adults with special health care needs and to prepare them for transitioning to adult-based care. This physician will join our UF Health Multispecialty practice at the Bower Lyman Center, which is an innovative, interdisciplinary primary care practice that provides comprehensive care for over 2000 infants, children, teens, and young adults who have special health care needs and may live with disabilities. The Center also offers embedded mental health and inpatient palliative care services as integral components of a comprehensive system of care. The academic appointment will be a tenure/non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor depending upon experience and qualifications. The position will report to the Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics and to the Department Chair, and integrate with other initiatives in the Division. The current team includes a pediatrician, an advanced practice provider, two nurse care coordinators, a social worker and other clinical support staff who provide primary medical care and facilitate the health care transition process to adulthood.

Requirements

  • MD/DO degree
  • Possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida
  • Credentialing at area hospitals

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical expertise and comprehensive care within a primary care medical-behavioral home in an outpatient setting to infants, children, youth, and young adults who have chronic, complex medical, developmental, and/or behavioral conditions – including facilitating transition from pediatric to adult-based care.
  • Work with academic faculty and collaborating community organizations and agencies with a commitment to advancing the rights of children, youth and young adults with complex medical conditions and disabilities.
  • Participate in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.
  • Clinical supervision and education of fellows, residents, medical students and advanced practice providers.
