About The Position

Working within the vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health and in accordance with the policies and processes and under general supervision, establishes a supportive presence that promotes a variety of trauma informed interventions, practices and clinical services that cultivate safety and respect within a long-term care facility. Provides assistance to clients with complex health and cognitive needs and/or their caregivers from various cultural backgrounds by liaising with the clinician and community services, assisting nursing staff in monitoring clients’ behaviour, and supporting the interdisciplinary team during the client care planning process. Acts as a member of the on-shift response team for the site’s fire, safety and security functions and intervenes to fire, safety and security related complaints/hazards including non-clinical emergencies and aggression.

Requirements

  • Social Services Diploma from a recognized program, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience working with diverse population and marginalized groups, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
