About The Position

Under the supervision of a Supervisor or Coordinator, serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with a chronic mental illness and possibly developmental disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. Coordinates services being provided to consumers with CMHA-CEI and links consumers to necessary community resources. Recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community. May provide case management; facilitation of a brief crisis intervention plan; outreach to consumers with multiple needs; and mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program. Responsible for detailed case documentation. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience specific to the area of assignment.
  • Ability to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • May be required to have a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use.

Nice To Haves

  • On a case-by-case basis, may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional work experience with the assigned population.
  • Other requirements, if needed, will depend upon area of assignment and program need.
