About The Position

Under the supervision of a Supervisor or Coordinator, serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with a chronic mental illness and possibly developmental disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. Coordinates services being provided to consumers with CMHA-CEI and links consumers to necessary community resources. Recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community. May provide case management; facilitation of a brief crisis intervention plan; outreach to consumers with multiple needs; and mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program. Responsible for detailed case documentation. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field.
A minimum of one year of professional experience specific to the area of assignment.
Ability to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards.
Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form.
Ability to operate a computer.
May be required to have a valid Michigan driver's license.
Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use.

Nice To Haves

On a case-by-case basis, may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional work experience with the assigned population.
Other requirements, if needed, will depend upon area of assignment and program need.
