About The Position

Saint John’s Program for Real Change, founded in 1985, is dedicated to eradicating homelessness by providing a comprehensive, up-to-18-month residential program for women and children. This program offers tools to address the root causes and symptoms of homelessness, including mental health therapy, drug and alcohol counseling, life skills classes, educational support, and employment training. The Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program (CCTRP) specifically serves eligible offenders by providing rehabilitative services in the community, focusing on recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Not currently on probation or parole.
  • Must be discharged for at least three years.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Punctual and good attendance.
  • Effective communication skills including both oral and written form.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and proof of personal auto insurance is required.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background screening (Live-Scan).
  • Must maintain annual CPR certification.
  • Must maintain First aid certification.
  • Must maintain Tuberculosis test results.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general supervision of program Clients, program and facility operations, and the transportation needs of Clients.
  • Ensure the mission of the agency is implemented with the highest degree of quality and compassion.
  • Responsible for effective and efficient delivery of services to clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of program participants and the facility.
  • Supervise and assist program participants with basic needs.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
  • Ensure that program participants follow program policies and procedures.
  • Welcome and orient new clients.
  • Ensure clients have a smooth transition into the Program.
  • Assess and respond to resident crises or conflicts.
  • Manage conflicts as they occur.
  • Document conflicts.
  • Monitor client incidents.
  • Facilitate program structure.
  • Support residents in their recovery and program progress.
  • Promote attendance at classes, groups, and 12-step meetings.
  • Respond to residents in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Maintain a safe, trauma responsive environment.
  • Conduct random testing according to program protocols.
  • Assess and manage emergencies according to Saint John’s emergency protocol.
  • Maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with residents.
  • Maintain the entire Campus facility both inside and outside to ensure that it is clean and orderly at all times.
  • Operate and maintain shelter vehicles according to schedules, and for emergency and errand purposes.
