About The Position

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Adult Mental Health Services/Crisis Services, this role serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health services. This includes answering crisis phone lines, conducting crisis intervention encounters, providing brief Solution Focused Therapy, teaching coping skills, conducting de-escalation, aiding individuals with problem-solving, and connecting them with the appropriate level of care. The specialist will also work with police, 911 call centers, and other providers as needed. Additional duties involve documenting contacts, providing support via data entry into the electronic records system, recommending referrals to various programs or community services, and assisting with hospital referrals/placements for inpatient needs. The role is responsible for carrying out all activities in a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience working with persons with mental illness is required.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and have the ability to gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI’s computer systems, including Smart Care and Microsoft Word.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • On a case-by-case basis, we may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional experience working with persons with mental illness is required.

Benefits

  • Shift Incentive: + $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm – 12am
  • + $2/hour for hours worked 12am – 8am
  • + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm – Monday 8am
