About The Position

HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery. The Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP), a program of HealthRIGHT 360, is a residential facility with a capacity of 200 beds, designed for adult males who have less than two years remaining on their prison sentences. Instead of being incarcerated in a state prison, eligible individuals can complete the remainder of their sentences in the community through MCRP. The program offers a variety of rehabilitative services focused on substance use disorder (SUD), mental health care, primary care, employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support. Treatment for substance use disorders and mental health issues provided by MCRP typically lasts from 6 to 12 months, ensuring comprehensive support for participants. The Overnight Client Safety Navigator (CSN) is an in-person role that fosters a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment while working with program leadership, law enforcement, and other teams to respond to emergencies such as drug use, overdose, and program disruptions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Ability to recognize signs of overdose and the use of overdose reversal medication.
Familiarity with various supportive counseling strategies and wellness and recovery principles for individuals dealing with mental health issues, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders.
Effective in conveying information clearly and accurately through both oral and written channels.
Ability to effectively interact with clients, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and colleagues, fostering collaboration and mutual understanding.
Ability to use the computer for training, documentation, to read and respond to emails, and to perform administrative tasks.
Ability to defuse and manage high-stress situations, promoting safety and preventing escalation.
Ability to interface well with diverse populations, including individuals with a history of incarceration or substance abuse, or mental illness while withholding judgment.
Ability to establish rapport, build trust, and maintain professional boundaries with clients and colleagues.
Familiarity with local resources and services available for individuals dealing with mental health issues, substance abuse, or related challenges, facilitating appropriate referrals and support.
Qualified candidates with a criminal record will be considered for employment.
Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check.
Must be capable of meeting health screening and tuberculosis testing requirements.
Must be capable of meeting program and funding requirements.
Must be capable of obtaining clearance and maintaining agency vehicle insurance coverage, if applicable.
Precise manual dexterity for documentation and data entry.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Valid California Driver’s License preferred.
Two years of job-related experience working with the criminal justice population or with the community behavioral health system preferred.
Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure and maintain a safe and orderly environment for clients, staff, and visitors in compliance with agency and industry standards.
Monitor security cameras, attend building security meetings, and work collaboratively with service providers and administrative staff.
Clear areas of crowds, debris, and out-of-place items to maintain safety.
Direct and deflect traffic, de-escalate tense situations, and maintain a positive, respectful demeanor even during high-pressure situations.
Work collaboratively with other service providers and administrative staff to maintain an orderly environment.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and adhere to the organization’s code of conduct.
Make regular rounds to monitor entrances, exits, offices, common areas, and building perimeters.
Work with local law enforcement and file incident reports as needed.
Transport clients as needed during emergencies, if applicable.
Maintain client and visitor logs.
Welcome and assist clients returning from appointments, ensure sign-in, and check belongings for contraband.
Welcome visitors, check credentials, ensure sign-in, and escort them to the supervisor on duty.
Answer and direct calls or messages.
Provide resources and information to clients and guests as needed.
Carry Narcan, recognize signs of overdose, and administer Narcan as necessary to reverse drug overdose.
De-escalate emotionally charged situations and maintain non-confrontational behavior during observation and intervention.
Complete necessary documentation in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other funding requirements to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
Attend and participate in meetings.
Participate in and complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
Read and respond to messages and emails when appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
