About The Position

This role is for a Client Relationship Consultant in Group Benefits, located remotely in Southern California. The company, Principal Financial Group, is committed to delivering flawless service and world-class solutions. The consultant will partner closely with the Sales team and top-level Broker partners to develop and implement customized strategies. The position offers the opportunity to become a knowledgeable industry expert and consultant in group benefits, managing an assigned block of in-force group business.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent plus 4+ years related experience (group benefits and/or account management experience preferred).
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain all required state licenses within 90 days.
  • Must have excellent persuasion, interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, presentation, listening, and oral/written communication skills, as well as analytical skills.
  • Advanced math skills required with basic skills related to graphs, symbols, equations, etc.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of business unit applications preferred.
  • Maintain accuracy while being detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Travel required (approx. 25%), including overnight stays and time out in the market in face-to-face contact with customers and brokers.
  • 8+ years of experience in group benefits required (for Sr. Client Relationship Consultant role)

  • Delivering upon a strategic relationship plan that includes quarterly/annual goals
  • Providing expert renewal analysis & delivery
  • Delivering outstanding service and selling new lines of business
