About The Position

The Client Manager (Employee Benefits) role involves providing comprehensive support and service to clients regarding their employee benefits programs. This includes maintaining professional relationships, resolving issues, answering benefit-related questions, and ensuring compliance. The role also entails assisting with client meetings, managing carrier and vendor relationships, developing communication strategies, and creating educational materials for employees. Collaboration with internal teams is crucial for effective client service delivery.

Requirements

  • Attains and maintains state life and health license in accordance with IMA standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent job experience.
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to learn and work in agency/client management systems and other related software and technology platforms.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate interpersonal communication skills – written and oral – with the ability to articulate ideas and information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present information in a group setting (in person and virtually).
  • Intermediate organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with variable deadlines.
  • Possesses a high degree of diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Maintains regular, professional contact with client representatives to foster relationships.
  • Researches and resolves client issues and requests in a timely manner.
  • Answers questions related to benefits programs.
  • Provides guidance on compliance-related matters.
  • Assists in preparing materials and collateral for client meetings.
  • Actively participates in client discussions and records meeting outcomes.
  • Assists with new vendor/carrier implementations.
  • Reviews carrier, vendor, and plan documents and contracts.
  • Maintains regular contact with carrier and vendor representatives for client advocacy.
  • Works with clients to develop employee communication objectives.
  • Creates member-facing collateral to promote benefit program features.
  • Assists with in-person, virtual, and telephonic sessions to provide plan information to participants.
  • Updates clients on carrier and vendor partner features and services.
  • Actively participates in client service team operations.
  • Effectively communicates client updates to appropriate team members.
  • Assists with other team duties as needed, such as covering for position vacancies or personal time off.
