About The Position

This role plays a key part in the growth of the high-voltage transmission business in North America, with a strong focus on gas-insulated substation (GIS) projects that the team is beginning to develop this year. The person will manage complex bids from opportunity identification through to handoff to operations, working closely with sales, engineering, purchasing, and project management teams. The role requires strong big-picture thinking, the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, and to develop robust technical and commercial offers in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in tendering, commercial, technical sales, or a combination of these roles in a similar market environment.
  • Required experience in the high-voltage transmission market
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Bilingual with strong English skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic setting with competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage primarily complex bids for North America, from identifying opportunities to transferring purchase orders to operations.
  • Manage daily small and intermediate service bids, juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead complex bid processes and communicate in a timely way with different departments and business units to ensure GE meets deadlines and customer requests, or at least properly negotiate exceptions.
  • Work with purchasing to support and obtain service quotes and with engineering to ensure offers comply with customer specifications.
  • Define market price levels, assess opportunity risks, manage timely delivery and accuracy of bids, track offers, and help negotiate contracts with customers.
  • Read, understand, and negotiate complex contractual terms within customer requests for proposals.
  • Prepare complex technical and commercial offers in English and French (an asset).
  • Support the sales team on large projects (about 25% of time) and continue quoting small and medium projects (about 75%).
  • Build strong relationships with key account managers and maintain in-depth knowledge of products, competitors, and market dynamics to provide creative solutions to customers.
  • Help define and implement the commercial action plan to achieve the unit’s strategic goals in order intake and revenue.
  • Work closely with internal sales teams and customer purchasing processes.
  • Ensure accurate input and reporting of productivity and sales tracking in SAP (ERP) and SPEAK (CRM).
